The Review Store:

Young Aaron’s family moves from their home in the city to an old farm—formerly abandoned—once owned by an
Amish family many years ago. Spurred on by some mysterious happenings while camping on the land one night (and
his own natural curiosity, of course), along with the help of a precocious neighbor girl named Jake, Aaron is
compelled to learn more about his new surroundings.
While exploring up in the old barn’s loft one day, he finds an old chest that holds some very strange items,
including a map. By putting their heads together and using their own resources in a creative way, Aaron and his new
friend begin a very strange adventure. While they hope to solve all of the mysteries they have uncovered, they also
learn about many things along the way, including themselves and each other.
Although The Time Cavern claims to be for young people ages nine through twelve, I’ve got to say as an adult I
thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. From the first few pages I was pulled into the fun and mystery and felt like a kid
again myself. Todd Fonseca’s writing was thoroughly researched; the story was intriguing and informative; the
characters were multi-dimensional and real and fun to be with.
Here’s hoping The Time Cavern is only the first book of a great series! ---Leann Marshall
Written from a 10yr olds point of view, "Time Cavern" tells the adventures of two friends trying to unravel
the mystery of a boy who went missing 100 years past. How they go about it, and what they learn along the
way makes the story move right along.
Mr. Fonseca throws in a LOT of information about different cultures, (Amish), science (gasses and what they
do) responsibility, even astronomy, weaving it all seamlessly into an interesting story that should hold the
interest of any young science fiction fan. I guess thats what I like best about this book. By the time a young
person has finished it, he'll come away with more than just a good read. He'll come away knowing a little more
about the real world. And thanks to the great ending, he'll be looking forward to more adventures with Aaron
and Jake. Looking forward to the next installment myself.....arizonareader "desertgrandma" (AZ United States)
The Time Cavern is an engrossing, fast-read novel aimed at tweens but enjoyable by all ages. As an adult, I have read
the book and passed it along to my kids, who in turn passed it along to their friends!
Mr. Fonseca does a fantastic job of setting a visual scene and providing detail. One feels they are traversing the corn
field along with the characters, sharing the apprehension of the unknown. My kids commented, "He did his homework,"
thanks to his accurate descriptions of divergent topics such as milking cows, Amish culture, and elemental chemistry.
Don't let this scare you off: you won't even realize how much you are learning, as you are totally engrossed in the story!
The underlying values of the author and hence the characters show through as well, with strong messages on friendship,
parental oversight, importance of education, volunteerism, and diversity/inclusion. The Time Cavern is a wonderful "sub-
tree-anean" adventure that offers something for everyone!--The Closer
